- Q: What is Aquastone? Aquastone is a technologically advanced solid composite material which consists of a high percentage of natural stone minerals and of a low percentage of acrylic resin (also known as PolyMethyl MethAcrylate or PMMA) and is especially engineered for the manufacturing of stone bathtubs and washbasins. The main natural mineral is Aluminium TriHydrate (ATH) derived from bauxite, an ore from which aluminium is produced. As a result, Aquastone is an inert, hypoallergenic, non-toxic, 100% recyclable and fire-resistant material. It has a great resistance to UV radiation, is dense/non-porous, hygienic, durable and is pleasant to touch due to its velvety texture. Aquastone is 100% restorable, since it can be restored to its original state with simple abrasive detergent and sponge, removing even cigarette burns. A frequent cleaning of Aquastone will ensure the preservation of the original beauty of Aquastone bathtubs and prevents wear and tear signs that might occur in the course of time.
- Q: Is Aquastone a safe material? Aquastone is an inert and nontoxic material.
- Q: How long will the Aquastone bathtubs last? If maintained properly, the Aquastone material will outlast most other materials. Possible damage can be repaired by a specialized technician with little effort which keeps the Aquastone bathtubs and washbasins always new.
- Q: Does Aquastone emit any gasses? Does it burn? Under normal temperature conditions, Aquastone does not emit any gases. While burning, it releases mainly Carbon Oxides and the smoke generated is optically light and does not contain toxic halogenated gases.
- Q: May Aquastone discolor? No, it cannot.
- Q: What is the difference between PureScape 606 and 204? Essentially, it is the same tub exactly. In the past we used to have 2 different models with slightly different dimensions but now it is the same product.
- Q: What is the difference between Matte (sandblasted) and glossy surface finishes? The difference is purely aesthetic and depends on what you prefer aesthethically. The matte effect is achieved by sanding after the polishing so it takes more time and labor to manufacture a matte finish tub. In the design community the sandblasted finishes are generally preferred due to their unique look. Most vendors charge extra for sandblasted versions while we do not.
- Q: Is there any difference between repairing matte and glossy finish tubs? Is there any difference in repairing and maintenance procedures between the two finishes? Both finishes can be repaired the same way as you would be repairing a scratched car finish – polishing paste and lots of buffing for glossy finish tubs while sanding with very fine sandpaper will be required for the matte finish tubs.
- Q: Do you supply the waste overflow fittings with your stone tubs? All our tubs come standard with integral waste / overflow.
- Q: What is the material like that the tubs are made of? The material is a solid 25mm (1 inch) of solid synthetic resin / stone.
- Q: What is the shipping weight of your synthetic resin tubs? The average shipping weight is 480lbs while the net weight is approximately 300lbs. There is no need for floor reinforcement in your home if your house is built in accordance with North American construction standards and in compliance with local building codes.
- Q: Can I jet my synthetic resin bathtub? No, you can not. The synthetic resin (synthetic stone) tubs are not designed to be jetted.
